TYPES OF CAREGIVERS
Lescoulie has a range of caregivers from registered nurses (RN), licensed vocational nurses (LVN or LPN), certified nurse aid (CNA), home health aid (HHA), nurses aid (NA)
and companions.
Aids, Companions
Aides (NAs) and companions have similar training to CNAs and HHAs; however, they have chosen to not become certified or maintain their certifications.
Home Healthcare/Certified Nurses Aids (HHA/CNA)
Are required to complete programs, pass state certification tests, and go through continued education to meet certification requirements. An HHA's training is specifically focused on providing care in a home environment, while CNA training focuses more on hospital care.
Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN)
Licensed vocational nurses (LVNs or LPNs) are licensed professionals, who have completed specific college or diploma programs and passed a state licensing exam. LVNs must renew their licenses every two years, and take continuing education courses to meet up-to-date licensing requirements. LVNs provide a skilled level of care based on specific MD orders.
Registered Nurses (RN)
Registered Nurse (RN) is the highest level of caregiver and must complete a four year college degree program and have passed the state licensing exam. RNs must renew their licenses every two years, and take continuing education courses to meet up-to-date licensing requirements. RN's provide a higher level of skilled care based on specific MD orders
